This year marks the 10th edition of the ‘Leixões Port Day’ on September 15, an initiative that opens the doors of the Cruise Terminal and CIIMAR to the community, between 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with activities for all the age groups. The activities will focus on the emblematic Cruise Terminal of Leixões and the south pier, with tourist buses to take visitors to know the port area and the day-to-day of what is one of the largest ports in the Iberian Peninsula.

On the 2nd floor CIIMAR opens its facilities and will have scientific activities demonstrating its extensive marine and environmental research. There will also be an area dedicated for pedagogical activities, paintings, games and film projection in the “Whale Mouth”, where the presentation of “Stories from the Sea” by the researcher Fernanda Malhão will take place at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

In addition there will be concerts, clowns, show cooking, dance workshop, visits to boats, the Leixões Port regatta, inflatables and many activities throughout all day. The exhibitions “Conspiração de Formas” of the Serralves Collection and the photography exhibition “Focusing on the Port of Leixões” will also be on show.

The APDL Administration estimates to receive more than 25.000 visitors at this event.
